The Basic Skin Care Regimen

Time Matters

Do you want to take good care of your skin but feel that you don’t have enough time?

We all are extremely busy, whether its caring for a new baby, taking on a new job, or simply juggling our kids and their school and activity schedules. Sometimes when we have a lot on our plate, it can be easy to let our skin care regimen lax. We hear you and want to help.

The Basic Skin Care Regimen

Hopefully when we first start our day, we have a little time to devote to our skin. Not only does washing with a gentle cleanser wake us up, it also preps our skin for the second step. Next, we suggest applying an antioxidant or Vitamin C serum to fend off free radicals and help protect our skin as well as even out skin tone. After this has absorbed, we recommend applying a moisturizing broad-spectrum sunscreen that is at least an SPF 30 or more to prevent sun damage.

If you are planning on applying makeup, now is the time. Voila! You are done. It’s always good to keep sunscreen nearby to re-apply throughout the day, especially if you drive a lot, work near a window, or get lots of screen time. The Night Routine

We promised we’d keep it simple for you. In the evening as things are winding down, the first step is to wash the day off with a gentle cleanser such as LaRoche Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Wash or CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. Be sure to remove all of your eye-makeup too.

To fight the effects of aging, now would be the ideal time to apply a topical retinoid, such as tretinoin, to help reduce sallowness, even out skin tone, and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. This medication is available by prescription only. If you need one, simply click here to schedule a consultation with our dermatology certified nurse practitioner for evaluation.

Finally, we recommend applying a non-comedogenic moisturizer to hydrate the skin. CeraVe PM lotion works great for this. If you have time, adding an eye cream as well as a neck cream would be beneficial.
